About Dr. Sharma

I was born and raised in the city of Los
Angeles. I attended various schools within
the Los Angeles Unified School District
throughout my elementary and secondary
years. I completed my undergraduate
education at the University of Southern
California (USC) and received both a
Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and a
Bachelor of Arts degree in African American
Studies. I continued on at USC to obtain a
Master of Science degree in Education
Administration. In December of 2009, I
completed my doctoral studies, earning a
Doctor of Education degree with an
emphasis in Organizational Leadership from
Pepperdine University’s Graduate School of
Education and Psychology.

As a TRiO Upward Bound Alumnae, I have
made it a point to carefully shape my career
around my passion for educational
opportunity and academic achievement
programs. I have worked as a Tutor,
Advisor, Director, and Program Administrator
for multiple outreach programs. In the
Summer of 2001, I co-founded the
Community Outreach and Opportunity
Programs (CO-OP). CO-OP is a non-profit
to the improvement of lives of people in
need in the Southern California area.
Currently, I serve as the President and CEO
of CO-OP in addition to my role as a federal
grant reviewer, program evaluator,
consultant, trainer, and researcher.

I am also a family caregiver and I dedicate
my volunteer service to Stroke Awareness,
heart health, and advocating for the disabled.
